Kinship Education Preparation Support (KEPS) Who is Considered a Kinship Care Provider? A kinship caregiver is someone who is caring for relative's child. Kinship caregivers can also be people who have a close relationship with a child who is not related by blood for example a neighbor, mentor or a God parent. The goal of KEPS is to support kinship caregivers. Participants learn ways to better meet the needs of the minors in their care. At the same time, this program gives the caregiver a support network of other relative caregivers which is a necessity to continue to be effective and successful with our minors. A the same time, caregivers develop a support network of other kinship caregivers. This support system helps kinship caregivers meet the needs of the children in their care. Possibly even more important, caregivers have a meaningful, empathetic group of adults who understand the unique challenges of kinship care.
